Pouch for me

I am so excited to finish a little project just for me. I picked up this fat quarter in hopes of making a zippered pouch and it actually happened:).

 

It's a mix of  Anna Marie Horner's Field Study and my own hand dyed fabric. I thought the dark blue went so perfect with the orange. I love the feathers. I'm hoping to pick up a few more fat quarters next time I head shopping:)......ok really probably tomorrow.

I lined/quilted the exterior before finishing it off and I love the body the pouch has. I think it's going to be my new traveling sewing pouch. Now to fill it with goodies:).

Scrappy Pouch

So, I've been on a kick with Christmas gifts lately. I've finished a couple of gifts over the weekend but not sure if I want to make another one for my oldest sister (who will hurt me if I don't), so I can't show them in fear of my safety. I can show you this little guy though. I love making pouches......I love having pouches. 

 

I used the tutorial from Noodlehead for her Wide Open Pouch. This tutorial is officially my FAVORITE pouch tutorial. I had a little fun and made it scrappy. Her instructions and pictures were so clear....like crystal clear. I really like her zipper method and how the pouch is lined. It looks so polished.

And, if you've never tried a zipper before this is the perfect little project to try.  You'll be most pleased.

The middle focus fabric, I ripped out of a antique quilt.....I actually prefer the word saved. The quilt was patchwork and hideous with this apricot solid all over. So, I seam ripped the squares that I liked and scrapped the rest. The other solids are various Konas, I already had in my stash. 

 

I'm hoping to make a few more......ok, truth be told, Elise and I went fabric shopping today and I picked up a fat quarter of Field Study that I am super stoked about. That will be my pouch for sure. I'll share my loot tomorrow. 

Summersville Pouch

It's birthday time around here! One of my girlfriends celebrated her's last week and after stalling all month and drooling all summer over Summersville Leaf and resisting buying any, I came up with a great idea and just had to buy it....ok and I found it on a crazy sale.

 
I wanted to do a little hand embroidery and make my own little special pop on the project and I wanted it to be useful and what girl doesn't need a gazillion little pouches for her goodies. 

I don't know very many stitches, I had fun with the few I do know and am very happy with how it turned out and she felt super special that I made her a gift. So win win. Now, I want one myself though. If only I can figure out how to do that blasted french knot everyone keeps saying is so easy. My never knots.
